The Trains

by Carl Rusk

She acts unaware of her smile
Or the scent of her hair
When she leaves the room
She takes everyone's eyes out with her

But I've learned too much to let her bring me down
But when she's not around
I can hear the trains underground
When I'm alone
I can feel the sun going down

How can I explain
All the reasons she frightens me so?
When she has the power
To burn me right down to my soul

But then every night I see her in my dreams
But the days in between
She tears me apart at the seams
Once I was strong
She's taught me what loneliness means

No, nobody else could understand it like I do
So I got to make her realize she loves me too
And I do, I really do
